If you are a creative person with lots of ideas, or just that ordinary person with not full of ideas, your attitude and how you handle your ideas is the up most thing that will differentiate you from many others.

A good idea can be for things ranging from work, activities at home, doing your hobby such as creating great web design or updating your web store.

Finding great ideas can happen anywhere.It can come from movies you watch, places you visit or even after a thorough discussion with your colleges or spouse.

The important thing when you come up with an idea is first you must encapsulate it. Clearly define it and set measures for succeeding in it. Then start your plan in making it happen. A good idea is priceless if you write it down and put a picture frame and hang it in a wall.

But the best thing is to execute it step by step.An also important thing that many forget is increase the value of the idea to yourself. See the positive outcomes of the idea for you.The goal is to make it 'worthwhile' for doing.

Therefore a 'game plan' is a good thing to have. The plan concentrates on 'how'. Some say what's important is not the what,but the how.We're talking about the process. A goal can be such as 'my grades in the next semester would be average A-' or such as increase my web income to at least $500 a month by next year. This will also become the motivation.

The last thing to do is also have a Plan B should you fail to reach your targets.The probable cause is that you aren't motivated enough to execute your idea.

So frame your best ideas and put it into action.

These days,people of Java Island are witnessing very strong winds and there are victims of this phenomenon.There were 20 officially reported victims in this phase of worsening conditions.

Tropical Storm is caused by low pressure in south Java sea.The difference between pressure causes Java Island and south Sumatera and Bali experience very high winds.

These extreme weather conditions are warning that everyone must always be prepared because natural disasters are a common thing in Indonesia.

But experts reject that this was caused by the recent solar flare from the sun that caused minor effects to telecommunications in America.

The Five things to know when Extending your Education

Although this blog is about internet marketing, bandung and surroundings,I just can't help to want to talk about other stuffs.Especially about HR as my line of work other my activities in education as a researcher and consultant.

There's always that time in your life where you think that your education just isn't enough.

As you proceed with your career,you see that for you to excel further possibilities you must consider in continuing your thing on school and education.

First, higher education can bring more possible career development. For example, if your an executive with a masters degree you can add other activities such as be a researcher at campus,consultant or university part time lecturer which will enhance your knowledge cause teaching it will increase it.

Second, completion of education doesn't mean your salary or rank will automatically raise. The rule goes: you've completed your study whether a bachelor or masters, you have a better view of things, then you work more productive and efficient, then your boss will consider you a higher responsibility or compensation.

Third of all that you must consider is that 'brainy work' does not require physical effort. The older you get, it is very wise for you to move your strength from physical to brain power. Some say being a writer, public speaker are some jobs that are a favorites. When you get more experience in a field of work you get a tendency to share it whether that is in a form of teaching it, writing a book about it or publicly speaking about it.

Fourth, a higher education will help you a lot in making those things happen but it isn't a requirement there are many people that are really good at something doesn't have to have high education you must really be good at it, such as a recognized blogger.

Fifth, is that one thing you must consider especially if you are still young as a youth. You must work hard at your younger ages, or else you will so at your old ages.Don't throw away chances like school, cause you will regret it when you get old.

So at the end it is up to you to make it happen.Life is a series of decisions you've made.

You know that famous Nokia Ringtone ? This violinist has had it when on of the audience shows his disrespect by activating his Nokia handheld phone in a concert.
Yup you must know how this guy feels when someone in the audience seems to not see the masterpiece in his playing of tunes.
It's devastating when the soundproof room that is designed for the optimum sound of music is 'hijacked' by a dumb, moronic,cloddish audience that did not put his phone ringtone to vibrate mode.
But the happy ending for the violinist is that he finally made hits and got viral in You Tube.

The thing that many americans and other people in the world think now is how can the current or next government support them so they can get a job in the job market.What 'pro-job market' policies can make Obama win the second term?

With recent downgrades of countries in Europe, shows that it is a sign that the job market is getting even worst. If your unemployed don't be sad, why not give it a shot in generating money from home.

But before that you must put to mind the correct mindsets before starting an online business.

First, like any other business it takes effort and perseverance.So there is no shortcut to big results.Although I don't blame why newbies are only focused on the results because many sites do promise 'get rich quick schemes' that is totally misleading.

Second, the knowledge is here and everywhere on the internet.But there is one problem. There is too many of them which makes you overwhelmed and get confused and stuffed with them.Therefore you must have a strategy or game plan.Structure your learning.

Some say starting with a niche market is a good idea.The 'blogging for money' business model about a very specific topic you like would be great. A pro blogger once told he started with a game site about a game he really liked and quite good at it.

Third, basic knowledge must be obtained.I would suggest take a course in internet marketing.If your in IT, web programming course is a solid thing,html is basic,then php then javascript. The next thing is called 'personal mastery'. The shaolins do this.Learn independently alone, set your bar, and reach to that level of learning, unless you want to be average.

The fourth thing is simply 'believe' you will reach success. This is important because believing will give confidence. Confidence will signal your body to give maximum efforts and at the end outputs optimum results.

So there goes a resolution for 2012.Good luck and happy new year.

The Ramayana King

The Ramayana as we know it is a king in the wayang world. It is a world of Javanese legend of pewayangan.There is 'wayang kulit' for the flat type of the puppet and made from skin and then there are 'wayang golek' for the 3 dimensional doll type puppet.Just like shown in a handicraft expo recently in Bandung.

But the king in the puppet world is very powerful as in all kingdom stories the king is the highest,most respected figure, has mistresses and an army that protects him.

But as powerful he his, there is the more powerful 'entity' behind it which is 'the puppet master' called the 'dalang'.Yup , Master of Puppets, you've probably own that album from Metalica in the 90s.

The point is how ever powerful we are, as humans we are still pulled by strings.And when the day comes we will be put away. There are plenty we can learn from traditional culture.

So you know those times when you go got plenty of things you wanna share from your mind but you don't want to write formally about it? For example external study materials,insights of an important event, or just something you like to convey to others.

The media is here and it is very easy to start it up. Yup you can start blogging cause its free.Or become a pro by renting space (web host with a domain). It is now a new form of 'I be the media' without anybody telling me what to do on it.It evolved beyond just 'citizen journalism'

And this media that you've created, after getting some attention, will eventually grow in readers as you keep on adding 'your content'.

Your content is a creation that is innovative that is pure and comes from you. If people already know you in society or have already became a public figure, chances are that you've already been 'creating content' whether made a public appearance, write a book or anything. Like artists, that's why just a couple of days after signing up for twitter they've accumulated millions of followers already recognize 'the content'.

Regarding the media you can use social networking sites or other sharing sites to express yourself. But what you are doing is enlarging an existing media. So why not create your own site which later you can 'monoteize' it. And the cool thing is that it can become a large media where people would want to promote stuffs on it.

So get productive and start making that content.

NALO versus Perseverance in Internet Marketing

You know that feeling when you get so overwhelmed by information from the internet. Yup you've witnessed the overflow of information that many other surfers experiencing.

The same goes for those that are learning about internet marketing. Google is kind enough, with its algorithm to select the sites that gives you the content that has quality. But on the pursue to happiness in internet marketing which some perceive as gold at the end of the rainbow. Many newbie or those who are already a player still can't reach their success. Why ?

One of the major causes are it isn't that they did not get enough knowledge on internet marketing, blogmarketing, making money online or whatever they call it. There are plenty of free ebooks or free cornerstone content on the internet. The thing is no actual action of doing something about it.He sees that many bloggers already are enjoying the passive income coming through slowly and intensifying, he knows the know hows on how to start a free blog, how to rent web space, buy a domain name, and even already learned HTML. He even bought some ebook products that promise online fortune.

But yup, No Action - Learning Only (NALO). It's become a disease to many people.They've took a course, they don't apply the newly acquired knowledge. Because what's important is action. Wanna make money selling your products in Facebook or Multiply then take actions. The steps are all over the internet. Just Do It ! (Seems familiar :) )

"Whatabout me ?, says A. I already have blog, I have readers. And I'm also a member of PPC sites and other affiliate sites. But I still can't see the dough. Yup the bucks that supposedly I receive and its already a year since I began. I give up ! It's foolishness saying that we can make money online."
Now this guy (A) above is the typical and average player in the internet marketing field. Hopes high but results not so far then expected. And what he does is stop. Yes stop the whole thing, stop extending the domain and hosting, Stop tweaking his site and stop his learning.Someone told him that his site about with a title visit bandung but talking about something else has crappy content so he stops. Now that's what it takes to fail. Easy to stop something.

But a totally different story for B. He sees no profits coming yet, but keep on doing it. While other domains die his is running, he has extended it for 2 years, renewed his internet marketing business plan. Now this is the mentality that is a must and has become an attitude for entrepreneurs. And you call it perseverance (In Indonesian : kegigihan).It's the thing that pushes you when everything around seems holding you back . An internet audiobook I've heard once told that failure is an absolute with a capital. It is one phase that you must go through to reach success and becomes a requirement. And it is also the ultimate natural selection.

So its up to you know, You still wanna go ?

Nowadays if you go to the internet to Indonesian sites, you'll see the trends that many young adults and girls sell things online.

I've just met a business partner who has a teenager and already knows how to generate money selling things online.
"My daughter said they transferred me the down payment first dad.50 percent of the price and it's enough for me to go to Pasar Baru and buy the item and send it to the buyer. The final payment totally becomes my savings dad."

Yup these people utilize the commerce capability of free social networking sites like facebook,multiply or tweeter.

So whatabout e-Bay, or amazon ? They are a not popular. Probably cause there are too much fuss. Here buyers want easy payment schemes, no middle man costs.Just the price and reasonable postal cost, transfer the money and pray to God the mailman shows up.

Here the players are Kaskus,Tokobagus and other small sites like http://iklanbaris.visit-bandung.com .Even for PPC there are local sites like I'd Blog Network. The thing is that if that global players play slow to 'localize' then the local players(technopreneurs) grab the opportunity.Same thing happened in China and Korea.

And at work nowadays you'll see employees concentrating at their monitor.Not looking at their work, but selecting a variety of items online. Or yes, running their online business, using the office facilities.Now that's what I call capitalizing. Their boss can't do anything about it.

But this situation is also becoming a fertile for scammers and online fraud that's why 'pray to God' mentioned above is a part of everyday. Logically doing online business essence is also building credibility. So once you scam or don't send the items as promises is you shutting your future opportunities online.

Yup, it's the one thing we hate filling up our email box.

Spam is unwanted emails.In the US and Europe there's a law for this.It is also called unsolicited email.

The opposite of this is opt-in email.It's a good internet marketing tool. An opt in email are emails you want because you have properly registered on the site that sends the email.

A blogger once told that his site came up and running and regain its traffic because of his opt in email list after it frozen and inactive for a quite a while.

There are services free for opt in email such as autobot, send free or others.It can send pre-written sales letter for e-marketing follow up purposes.

The Difference between Segmenting and Targeting

It sometimes might come across your mind why these marketing people have these difficult terms that only they are supposed to understand.
Such as segmenting and targeting. For me its just the same right ?
I sell products to the segment of 'people who smoke but still care for their health' sounds like a contradiction right ? But that's how the 'low tar' cigarettes was born. But I was wrong.

The Difference

Segmenting is closely related to targeting, but they are not the same.
Segmenting is the identification of various groups by applying ‘filters’ such as ‘gender’, ‘age’,etc to distinctly separate each other.
Targeting is making a choice which segments to serve.

There are several methods of segmenting :

Geographic: Nation, state, region, urban, neighborhood, etc.
Demographic :Age, life-cycle, gender, income, religion, race, etc.
Psycho graphic : Social class, lifestyle, personality, etc.
Behavioral :Knowledge, attitude, use, responses, occasions, benefits, user status, usage rate, loyalty status, etc.
Hybrid / Combinations: geo-demographic, geo-psychographic, etc.

So there you go folks. As a business owner knowing your target market is essential, if your still small, choose a niche. If you go against the big boys in the fields its possible you'll be eaten up, by not having any distinction from their product, or in certain cases just disposing your marketing budget.

London Riots: An Analysis of Social Media’s effect on Social Movement

As we know what’s filling the news lately, what’s happening in London is somewhat shocking for people all around the world. A first world nation, a country that once almost ruled the world, couldn’t handle riots that were sparked by Twitter and Blackberry Messenger? At least that was what was mentioned in the media.

What happen in the Arab world like Egypt shows that it (Twitter) was actually used for collecting mass or mass gathering but then noticed by the ruling government. Then they (the government) decided to ban the internet networks hoping it would lessen. But it didn’t, the social uprising in Egypt went beyond expectations.

Technically the speed of the messages spread proven at the recent London riots was faster than the expected reaction and communication of the police. Was it because there weren’t any standard operating procedures against such situations? I doubt it. It was just the fact that the scale of the incident was not ordinary or anticipated.

Free Speech versus Governed Internet

The ultimate debate on this issue is whether censoring the internet or at least social sites in freedom symbol countries like the US and UK would be a step backwards to the freedom of speech cause in these countries, it is like a sacred thing.

One suggestion is an administered social networking activity which is quite absurd idea. But this is practiced by a large media when the Arab uprising happened. The reporter act as a filter to verify which sources of tweets has integrity and which are not. But this cannot actually stop the tweets.

But as an ordinary blogger that know a little bit about communications systems I would suggest authorities take measures as below to anticipate another 'break havoc' situation :
• Gear the force in the field with the latest gadgets. Create a team more of a task force for monitoring activities on the social media. And create a network monitoring system that can detect ‘spikes’ of communication activities in a certain area.
• Contain the riots by closing the area and enforce a special unit that is specially trained for such incidents not just an ordinary mass control unit or in Indonesia known as “Dalemas” or “pengendalian massa”.
• I don’t now but I’ve heard that there is signal jammer so the communications equipment (except) the one owned by authorities cannot spread the news.

The social network as a media of free speech is something that can't be withheld and is a form of social control of things happening these days. So its a fact of life that nations must live with.

4 Things to Know when planning your Internet Business Strategy

You have a ‘brick and wall’ business, let say it’s a small business with 15 employees. Your boss asks you, as the marketing manager, to develop online presence with a main objective to increase sales. The boss asks you to concept an internet marketing strategy and then contact an Internet Marketing Consultant for a quotation.

You realized that the price for such a service is very expensive for a small company; you find another cheaper consultant and then proceed until the job has completed. The consultant’s scope of work includes web design and development and promoting it on the web. Then you’re boss sees that the results were not as expected. What went wrong?

Let’s go to the basic steps on building an internet business strategy whether you are an individual or if you are a company.

1. Determine your idea or business themes and analyze it.

If you’re already have ‘brick and wall’ business most possibly you already done this and you have included internet marketing as your sub strategy for marketing division. But if you haven’t a theme yet an idea and business theme is an important part as the basis of your business. For example you want to sell real products online or do want to go with content marketing or article marketing. Analyzing includes segmenting your potential customers, conducting a simple or sophisticated market research. One of the possible objectives going online is to communicate your product brand, this is important because it gives explanation of the benefits of your products or service and justifies why it is priced that way. We also want profit in way that a ‘conversion’ happens. Conversion is something that we want a customer to do in our site such as sign up, buy products or execute a click in our partners PPC link. It all adds up to become a business portfolio.

2. Execute content strategy.

Will it be fully exposed content or does it have a membership system, if it is a membership site will it be a paid site. If so, the portion of content that is exposed must be interesting enough for them to join the membership area. Then start collecting the content. The content is an important aspect of a website. Some say the only important aspect of the site or blog. Therefore the strategy of appointing the writer is important. Should it be a professional writer, or hire budget ghost writer for writing your content. Plan also the update frequency, would it be weekly or monthly or even daily.

3. Consider Design Aspects.

With the web programmer and the web designer, design your site with in depth considerations on ‘ease of navigation’, clean but eye catching design, don’t over design it. A web design also reflects our business brand image to customers. Don’t let our potential customers get the wrong idea.

4. Do a Search Engine Friendly strategy for the site.

Conduct the technical aspects, features and codes we need to insert so our website is easily indexed by search engine. These could be adding a site map, meta tags, etc. We want our theme to be a clear keyword term or phrase that a customer would type in a search engine, and would want our site to be at least in the first page of the search engine results page (SERP). This is not ambitious, if your know the steps to it. For instance at least submit our site to be indexed first by these search engines. It is one whole knowledge field called SEO that you can find plenty of information in the web or this blog.

Possible Failures

Let’s try to identify possible causes of failure for the case above. First of all when a consultant builds the website, it’s like a manufacturing job. Build it and submit to client get the fee to pay consultant’s employees. Did they really conduct according to the scope of work? Or was the scope of work rather vague.

There must be some aspects that aren’t well figured out or executed which results of the expected action of the customers not achieved. In other words the expected conversion was not reached or was not enough.

The Story of the Pipe Maker and Bucket Carrier

This maybe not the first time you’ve read about this story but there are many that still don’t get what the story is all about and what its relation with internet marketing or other passive income generating business.

The original story was an Italian folklore about 2 cousins named Pablo and Bruno who lived in a small village. There are many versions of this story; I’ll put my twist to this story too. Once upon a time they were awarded a project to carry water from a water source to their village where after each day of work they would get a good sum of money. So they started carrying the buckets. Bruno was good tough worker and enjoys the end of the day and enjoys moments to spend his wage on buying things for his pleasure like new clothes and shoes.

Pablo in the other hand is a humble thinker. Just at the second day of work he thought on an idea to create a pipe from the water source to the village which is quite a long work to do, it also needs small investment to by the pipes. He told Bruno of his idea and he got a ‘not so supportive’ response from Bruno. “Pablo, that’s a hilarious idea. I’ve heard strange ideas in my life, but building a pipe that long.ha..ha..ha.come on…Give me a break ! These two buckets can do the job.” But as a persistent guy, Pablo was firm with his idea and went on. He thought Bruno’s remarks just as a challenge to prove himself.

So at the coming weeks Pablo progressed on building his pipeline. While Bruno enjoyed full payment from his job, Pablo did not enjoy full payment because half of the day was pursuing his project. Bruno passed Pablo and replied “Look people, the pipeman is making his pipes, ha.ha..ha. Woulja look at that..”

To shorten this story, time went by and finally the employer was satisfied with their collection of work and terminated the job because a large gate made of wood that was built to separate the water resource with the village. Bruno was shocked to realize that his source of income was slashed while he still likes to spend money on things. On the other hand the employer award Pablo and gives the good news that he still gets paid for each gallons and decided to give him a long term contract.

The moral of this story as explained by many passive income professionals is that investing on things that can give you an ongoing income, even until you have retired from work is a good thing. You will make small sacrifices for example investing on online business, join a multilevel marketing firm, and become an insurance sales person (continuous commissions). Where the income will be continuous or in some cases will even grow as you reach your retire years. If you are in the property business, building an income generating property that will cover your property operating expenses and your personal expenses will then give you the title of financial freedom. So financial freedom is not having lots and lots of money but having enough money to cover your expenses and cover expenses to maintain your wealth. If $3000 a month frees you from work, then you are already financially free. But the question is how to generate $3000/month. Do I have to have $300.000 deposit with an annual bank interest of 12% ? Now the challenge is “building your pipeline of income” and shift from the ordinary thinking of getting just high salary to cover your expenses.

What if I’m already fine with my high salary? Remember, at least you must think on investments if you don’t want to end up like Bruno. Robert Kyosaki said if you’re planning to live on your pension, you are planning to be poor. Why? Because your standard of living will not decrease but your income does, that means you will be living in deficit. Changing lifestyles is not as easy as you think.

The top players in investing (has lots of money) buys “already income generating” investments, like profitable companies, rent property, buy a high PPC generating blog. You might be laughed upon, underestimated, or face skepticism from people around you, but when those income role, things'll get a little different.

So let this article marinade for while in your mind and start finding that inspiration to start building your pipeline. It doesn’t have to start big. You can start small. Good luck.

I’d like to go back to discuss the basics of how to show the online public face of your business or e-business. A website that is used to increase revenue of the ‘brick and wall’ business can be categorized as this too.

There's this guy named David Siegel said that there are 3 main elements of a web :

Information
Exchange
Entertainment

A good e-business face must have the three above. Information is pretty obvious as a basic philosophy why people go online. Information also means the basic information of your business: product info, how to order, contact info, etc.

Exchange here means there must be function of interactivity that makes the site alive .For example a comment section, a mail form, a chatting facility or social bookmark (nowadays) .
And Entertainment here means the visitor is given some stuff to do in our e-business site for them to relax a bit as we start offering them information about our products or services.

Things that also must be considered in the marketing point of view is

‘Word of mouth’ recommendation which other then cheap, but significantly has impacts.
The role of offline advertising such as printing email and website at printed items which aims potential customers to checkout our website.
Making the right budgeting plans for our marketing activities and allocating it as an expense.

Other important factors of your online presence for your e-business are :

Style : Visitors must have a certain impression of your style of business from the layout style of your website so this is important. Some use professional graphics designer to design the site.
Function: What are the features and functions that visitors can do in your website?
Navigation: The ease of navigation determines how easily the user can move from one page to another and the existence of a search facility
Interactivity: This is important shows how ‘alive ‘your site is. Commenting facility, chatting and social bookmarking are some interactivity that will contribute to the successfulness of the business.

All of the abovementioned points and other things that aren’t mentioned here are all important aspects for your internet campaign to work.

Adsense Program : Google will never let you down.

They say that positive things must have a benefit. And good deeds and hardship must have a reward.

For you bloggers that are still doubt that you can really make money out of blogging or doubt the Google Adsense system. Here’s proof that they (Google) will never let you down. If you follow the rules, be a little patience your hardship will pay off.

It was just a relaxing off of work at 4.30 pm yes its only half an hour from my office around dago, Bandung to my house and I received a snail mail ( a mail by the post office) , which I thought it was some offer from Google but it turns out that it was my first Adsense check. Not much of a sum of money but good and encouraging start for someone who is taking a hobby seriously.

Yes the income generated from my blogging activities can be called as passive income. They call it this because the income adds up even when you are asleep. It all started when I was starting to like writing articles. Then I implemented writing strategies that work. I totally started with a free blog as mentioned in my article how to start an income generating blog with a totally free blog service.

After I registered to the Adsense program then I tried some strategies to increase my Pay Per Click income. Did some keyword optimization and density, then more importantly see where the hotspots are in a webpage and put the ads around there explained in my article on utilizing hotspots in webpage to increase PPC income.

This is an example of monetizing your site in other words creating money out of your site. Writing a blog isn’t a hard thing to do 8 th grade English. The problem is the consistency and not just plain writing but how to create great and interesting content. If you can speak English and have a hobby of writing it won’t hurt to give it a shot on serious blogging.

Remember, sharing knowledge is a single ‘asset’ that when you give, will give you more knowledge. A lecturer must dug deep in to his teaching notes to anticipate a student’s question. And the questions he gets from the audience gives him new insights. So it doesn’t subtract his wealth of knowledge but otherwise gains more and more which makes him a more knowledgeable yet wiser person.

The philosophy of online presence and blog marketing is very simple. Other then social networking, people mostly go to the internet to find use full information. So give it bro, give the info they need sister. Don’t get self centered. Surfers don’t give a dam about you unless you’re Lady Gaga or somewhat. Cornerstone content is what their searching for. Yes hard, applicable solutions that they can use for their daily lives.

In times where competition for formal work is getting tougher and tougher, like what’s happening in the US and Europe, making an income out of your online activity is good option to consider. The knowledge and how to-s is out there and free for you to learn.

The meaning of loyalty in marketing holds an important role where as you as the holder of the brand can be in relief knowing that your customers are in such a position. A loyalty towards a brand can give assurance to the production division of the company that they will keep on producing the goods and ensure the livelihood of the company.

Customer loyalty is a serious thing in the marketing field. A site that talks about Customer loyalty defines as all about attracting the right customer, getting them to buy, buy often, buy in higher quantities and bring you even more customers. However, that focus is not how you build customer loyalty.

Really good service that would impress the customer at first serve can trigger him for loyalty of the product and make him keep on buying it, or keep on using the service. It could be because of the ease of use, the ‘unforgotten taste’ or the irresistible experience.

But the thing is that did you know that many customers put on a position of not to loyal of the product or service. Why ? Because they want more options. They don’t want to be ‘identified’ or ‘correlated’ to a single brand. Or anticipate if somehow this product will fail in the future. Like you with your gadget or your car or your shampoo.

Now this portion of the mass society can be called the floating mass. These are the group of people that haven’t decided yet what they chose. In presidential elections these are the target of new political parties or the competing party for jumping votes.

The good thing is that these people are sometimes easily provoked by media to love a newly introduced and unknown product. ‘Wow this is interesting !’ and the euphoria builds up and becomes a hit. But the next thing is that after a couple of weeks or months it suddenly disappear because there is no real loyalty in the product.

Indonesian style of Bieber fever

The strategy in launching these kinds of product is when the hype is up, produce as much as you can and harvest your profit on it. These situations can become a seasonal or a one time event.And in a suddenly popular person case, get exposed as much as you can while your in the spotlite.

The case of the internet made celebrity is a sample of this. After sometime the popularity just disappeared in thin air, because to become really considered as an artist we must know the basics and pursue a career in that field with all of their intrigue and pitfalls. Another is the Bieber fever of Indonesian customers. Some comedians take advantage of this to lever their popularity like this dude above.

WHY GREAT HEADLINES ARE GOOD BUT THE JUICE MUST BE AS PROMISED

Reading and hearing podcasts from copyblogger I’ve come to a conclusion in writing headlines that are good but be careful of what you are writing.Here’s my point of view of it.

Headlines that draw viewers to your site is subject of its own. It can draw attention and be very interesting. The important thing was that not every topic is interesting to everybody. And not every topic is interesting to you. Why ? Because your state of mind or your feeling can be in a different situation each time.

For example when your feeling like you need laughs a topic or funny video interest you but if your in a serious ‘mode’. You are more interested in serious stuff. So we can’t please everybody. At least we know that we know what we are writing and to what target we are writing to.

A surfers behavior is typically seeing a link that has headline to it and you are interested in clicking it. If its an HOW TO article. You’ll probably expect hard core solution to a problem without going here and there anymore. Because as the writer you already ‘cut the fat on the meat’ already.

Should your article be perceived as ‘just ordinary’ , ‘Not a solution’ or ‘I knew that already’ or ‘this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about’ are not the type of impressions of readers that you want. Moreover your ‘rep’ is in the line now and people will question your competency on that subject.

So at the end make an ‘indepth’ research first if its not your expertise for that specific topic before you make any writing.

HOW TO EFFECTIVELY FILTER YOUR TWITTER FOLLOWERS

I know you guys and gals like to tweet. It’s the not so new and cool thing in the Social networking horizon. Artist and popular people do this ‘thing’ that can be categorized as microblogging. Some say ‘No , I don’t blog ! , I tweet. I’m a tweeter’.While actually it is a form of blogging.

And the good thing is that not much of your profile is exposed so many-many people like it. And the other good thing is that you can follow a person and see what their tweetin about . If you’re a celeb or a popular person in the society it’s a form of you communicating to your fans. And to distinguish between a real celeb and a fake one you can see his/her follower were talking about a million above followers and they usually follow back a little.

To make many tweeters follow you, there’s a choice to let everybody in or just your friends. If you opt everyone can follow then there’s a chance that you follow a spammer tweeter. And you can also have a case where some tweeter followed you and you’ve followed back. And then he un-followed you. Now you probably want to filter this.

Nowadays there are many tools and sites out there to do the job for you. Here is one of my favorites because of its easiness to use. Its called Friend Or Follow.

First step is make sure you log in your tweeter account from your PC then go the site and input your tweeter user name as shown below.

Next thing to do is go the 'FANS' Tab and see who’s following you and your not . If you’re an equal ‘opportweetnaty’ tweeter like me (@visitbandung) then you’ll start following back. You do it by right clicking the person in a new tab and start following .

Then go the Following tab and confirm who your following but doesn’t follow you. If you see unfamiliar faces then you can decide to unfollow.

For the friend tab there is no problem. Because you are reciprocally following each other.

Why Facebook and Twitter is enough

A couple of weeks ago I downloaded this MP3 from Copyblogger about predictions of Internet Marketing in 2011. It's actually about a pro-blogger's view of the e-business situation.

The same old question was ask "So Brian is Blogging dead ?" cause lots of people people are saying. (Brian Clark is a professional blogger owner of Copyblogger media). Come on throw away your blog you don't need it. It's facebook time or 'look how much tweeter followers I have' I could shake the country because of a couple of tweets.

It's totally Ok for these people who like to fill and utilize the full potential of the social network. Facebook pages already have the capacity to become a fully featured blog. So its OK not have a site or blog because its only for the passionate who likes writing and creating content.

The fact is that if you are a socialite or a famous star, you don't need blogs or website.A tweeter account will automatically draw huge amount of followers.You will get likes in your Facebook fan site. While for a successful blogger, it can take efforts of writing great content to become what he or she is.

The point here is that that as a star/artist /a top musician/a movie director; their work is the 'content' that attracts people. Their song, upcoming movie,etc is content. It takes professional effort and 'content production' to reach that 'popular position'. This is not what we realize. Now you see that 'content is still the king'

In other words producing something is one of the most important things in life. If your a student your thesis is your output. If your an author, your next book is your output. The philosophy is for us to be creative and produce something.

The difference of a typical blogger is that he can make his blog a media by itself against other media. If he gets any financial gain over it, ads and offers it is all in his control as a media entity.
Blogging gives you the opportunity to create something and puts you in the category of creative creator of something.

When there are still people attracted to this, then blogging won't die any day soon. So happy blogging and happy creating good' content', what ever your profession is !!

Defying Changes in Technology

As you know the music industry has change a lot in Indonesia and other parts of the world. It was at the dawn of internet age where file sharing had become a potential threat the music and movie industry. People would ‘download beyond all recognition’ stuffs that are so call ‘free’ without any obligations. All in the name of file sharing.

Record sales witnessed the fall of CD sales. A supporting factor was the discovery of compressing technology such as MP3, MP4, etc. It was and still now an ongoing war between law enforcements against pirates as the industry people say.

A phenomena in the Indonesian music industry nowadays is that a RBTs (ring back tone) that short music that you here when you call someone. In Indonesia is called Nada Sambung Pribadi (word-to word : personal connection melody). It holds a major role or such a relief for musicians because it holds an important role of their income. In a country where digital piracy is as good as at online and offline in the streets, its easy for you to get a bunch of songs made by artists who bust their butt making it.

So the ridiculous part is artist make songs and ask their partners hey would it be a good RBT? All their efforts is valued for just a couple of minutes music. So they just make singles. A funny thing is that on an interview a new band’s vocals said “Its ok that our songs be pirated. We like to be pirated. We are thankful because we got popular and our songs are virally spread”. Now you think of the logic.

Artists somewhat are not interested in ‘incoming’ from CD sales anymore because for some, it’s a stupid thing to do : buying things when you can get it absolutely free. They know that a song currently maximum can be sold only for $1. Yup and still you have to share it with your e-store. But there are still CD stores that defy this. The possibilities are: 1. They took to the risk defying tech changes (plain stupidy) 2. They have a lot money to throw 3. They have other businesses and not reliant on that. 4.Still have hopes for law enforcements to subdue the pirates. In Bandung the renown 'Aquarius' Dago is now history. In the 90's they still relied on 'jazz enthusiast' for sales.

Defying Technology

Old generation artists see this as a non appreciation of their hardship of their masterpiece and they just rely on concerts including tv shows. For the new generation this e-lifestyle what they call it, is a huge opportunity to ‘get buzzed quick’ and there was 2 cases already where youtube made individual instant artists. Some already famous artist called these ‘internet made’ artist : nahh… not so creative, no quality for creativity, its totally pure luck, no talents at all.

How Kiyosaski thinking of money can save you from crisis.

You’ve probably read or heard about Robert Kiyosaki, a guru of creating money with a revolutionary thinking about investment in his book Rich Dad and poor Dad. Did you know that the current economic crises were already predicted by him? The French government rose the retirement year from 60 to 62. Why because it turns out the mutual funds (pension funds) that ‘baby boomer’ generation paid could not be cashed because there is not enough money.

Actually that has to do with the ‘typical employee’ thinking that when they retire , the government will take care of them while actually (according to Kiyosaki) if you plan to live with your retirement salary it means that you are planning to be poor. Logically you won’t change your habits on buying goods, go to the mall, eat, while your medical expenses keep rising as you get to retirement age.

Here is why you have to learn about the Kiyosaki thinking of money.The way he learned it from his Rich Dad actually is using simple terms easy to understand.Contrast if you learn finance or accounting at school.

The concept of collecting money according to him is not just how to work hard and collect them. But the most important is how the money or wealth that you have collected gives you income. And that is what you call an asset.

Traditional thinking of asset: my house, my diamond ring, my luxury car, my expensive cloths.

Kiyosaki Rich dad’s thinking of asset: “Asset is things that put money in my pocket”

Kiyosaki Rich dad’s thinking of liability: “Liability is something that takes money out of my pocket”

So from this example you see that your house, and others above are actually your liability cause they can’t bring money to you. But if you have a house that you rent to someone and you do it for years, now that is an asset.

If you made a book and you are paid for royalty for the rest of your life. Now that is an asset.The characteristics of an asset is that you don’t do anything and there is money pouring in to your pocket.

This is the analogy of pipe builder vs. a bucket carrier. The money is the water, the bucket carrier is a typical employee carrying buckets of water, when he gets to retirement age, he is not allowed to get the water anymore. The pipe builder builds small pipes, which has a cost at first but at retirement age he has many pipes which pour water (money) to his pocket. The pipes are your asset.

Merapi Volcano has Errupted Again ! Bigger than the 2006 erruption ?

Just recently officials that’s looking at the volcano have confirmed that at 18.00 WIB 26th Oct 2010 there was 3 explosive eruption with the impact of hot volcanic ashes coming out and flowing as long as 1.5 km. The media is all over Yogyakarta (Sleman area) and reporting is at full risk because it is only a couple of clicks from the volcano in Kaliurang road.

This is the first stage of the eruption stage says volcano experts. The second phase is lava going out. 10 km is a recommended safe distance from the volcano.

Merapi One of the largest volcano in the Indonesian Island of Java is in a red alert situation. People are all over the place in panic especially ones evacuated in near the mountain. The most needed equipment is maskers to close their nose and mouth from inhaling the ashes. There is approximately 13.000 people that is in the surrounding area.

The highest record of victims was in the 1672 eruption which was around 3.000 lives back then on whole Javanese kingdom was perished, the second largest was the eruption in 1930 claiming 1.369 lives. The last eruption was on 4th June 1992.

A Carpet Moving by itself

It’s hard to phrase it but this it. An unusual video of a carpet/mat (in Indonesia : sejadah) moving by itself inside a somewhere in the middle east.

We can’t figure whether it is a hoax or what. There are people surrounding this event, amused with how could this happen.

The aim is to put some mind share in your minds of that product when you come up with the keyword. For example : “Softdrink ?” what comes first in your head ? Now that ‘brand name’ that comes across your mind firstly has a significant ‘mind share’ in your head showing that the marketing campaigns has successfully reached its aims.

How harmful a customer can be in the Social Media era?

So you’re the CEO of your company and you have a large segment of customers waiting in line to buy your products or service, and out of those say hundreds of customers there is a customer complaining. You go “ Yaa that’s business, we can’t always be perfect. Its just one customer, how can he harm us?”

But nowadays companies can’t easily go to the conclusions like that. The new media has changed the constellation and the power between customers and business entities right now. Nowadays customers convey their feelings through social media. This is not a new thing where some customers make a video of their complaint and upload it on youtube or put it up in their blog.

But how about the complaining customer did it in the most creative way he could using his skills on that. That was what happens to United Airlines because a man found that his guitar was broken and he made a song about it. Actually he wasn’t just giving a lesson to the company. He was also looking for hits which he did get and then another story of success by the web.

The point is how the company reacted to this when the social media went to the mainstream media. The approach is actually making a counter attack also using the social media approach. This was successfully done by a pizza company where the employees posted a negative video of the company.

The wise thing to do is before things get hostile we prepare a ‘social media front’ where the PR people already working and communicating to the social media. So quick anticipation can be conducted and the equal counter of information can be done.

Indonesian Music: How to become ultimate success.

Nowadays unemployment has become a big problem in developing countries and even in developed countries like the US or countries in Europe. Many nations failed to create jobs fulfilling the growth of the workforce population.

Some are faced with the facts that to enter the work field we must have some good hard skills and great soft skills. Hard skills are skills that are straight forward related to the job we are applying , i.e a writer must perform his deep skills in writing or a manager must show his ability to ‘get things done through other people’ , a programmer must have basic skills of coding. The hard skills here must comply with company’s minimum standards because companies are businesses that don’t have much time to wait for you to learn things and catch up.
And for the soft skills like leadership, presentation skills, logical thinking and people skills will boost your career too.

In Indonesia, Indonesian music has become king in his own country. This has been quite a success although pirating activities are still hard to fight. The funny thing is that some new bands actually want their products to be pirated to get viral and downloaded and then they are hoping for TV shows/concerts and RBTs (ring back tone) as their source of income.

Some Indonesian youngsters have already have determinations to become an artist and don’t want to have a formal work. It is not a problem at all. But there are successful factors to consider before totally entering the entertainment world.

Talent

Why is talent important? If you don’t have the talent you must start from zero and for quiet a time you will get to the middle or average. While becoming successful in a field you must become above average. A talented person is already ‘average’ at the start of his ‘trial’ and it would probably be easier for him or her to become ‘extraordinary’ or above the average.

Believe that it is Achievable

If you think you can you can. You are what you believe (Anda adalah yang anda yakini-Ind). If you have a piece of mind that you are thinking that you can’t than don’t do it. Because even though you say you can , some people close to you will doubt you. And being persistent in the field is not an easy task to do. You can ask top bloggers in the internet how they faced their family. Believing that you can achieve something is one of the biggest motivator to keep on doing what doing.

Supporting Environment

No wonder a son of a musician easily become a successful musician. Because at home his father already has a music studio complete with synthesizers, MIDI equipment and he already took keyboard lessons since 3rd grade. But this doesn’t necessary always become a requirement, because there are cases that these bright shining diamonds come from not so supporting environment in measures of wealth. Nowadays there are many recording studios that you can make your demo disc and there are also music festivals that are dedicated for amateurs or stars wannabe.

Personal Mastery

You know those kungfu movies where a kungfu monk took his lessons in the dojo then he journeys around the world. But on his journey he spreads wisdoms and keep on learning on his own. School/ university/courses are supposed to be our dojo where we sharpen our skills. But the ultimate challenge is implementing those knowledge in the real world. A wise man like the kungfu guy always find more reference and keep on practicing his skills.

A good university lecturer sharpen his skills and knowledge by conducting research. A good musician always has time to learn new keys or other musician styles and building his own personal style which differentiate him from the others. In simple words personal mastery is a form of self continuous learning. Tiger Woods even practices just after winning a World championship Tournament.

Take Advice from Grown Ups or the experienced.

There was this person that just went back from the end of the east side of a desert with his jeep and told you not to go there because there is a ravine and he almost fell in. And since you know that would you waste your time to check it out? It would be wiser just to follow what the man says and take another path. Grown ups giving advice not to smoke, use drugs, being bad is just the same thing, there are more important priorities in life than falling to the same hole that the adviser told you. Following footsteps of a star literally means following what he did right and not doing the mistakes in the star’s early career.

So to achieve your success you must want to be successful first that find activities that supports your success and make it your everyday habit.

Do you have characteristics of an Entrepreneur ?

Entrepreneurship has a couple of definition a good one is what Zimmerer and Scarborough (2005) defined as below :

An Entrepreneur is one who creates a new business in face of risk and uncertainty for the purpose of achieving profit and growth by identifying significant opportunities and assembling the necessary resources to capitalize on them.

From the above mentioned statement we can see that an entrepreneur is somewhat someone who takes risks at what he does and the he has the ability to see opportunities in business.

He is also a person that knows how to source (find) specific things and optimize his sources and create capital to expand his business. He is sure that his business will grow eventually slow or fast and is use to thinking creative and find new ideas.

There are characteristics of an entrepreneur :

1.Hard Worker. This is a must for an entrepreneur. He works for himself and knows that without working hard he would loose competition in the market place.
2.Self Motivated. He always find new ways to motivate himself especially in tough times. In a book this is called ‘dog clinging to fence’ mentality. Most times an entrepreneur does 'different' things than the normal. And he stays with his path although many criticized.
3.Networking. He understands the importance of networking for it will be his initial market to offer his products or services. And networking will also give ease to deal with bureaucracy ,etc.
4.High Achiever. As an entrepreneur he sets a certain benchmark to pass it and is not satisfied for just ‘ordinary’ results. He likes measurable results. And to achieve success in business is an actualization phase for him and can become self dignity.
5.Innovative or Die. This is a motto for entrepreneurs, there is no choice but to innovate because a second an idea is executed the next second some competitor is doing just what you are doing.Surviving businesses always innovate.
6.More proportion of Work than family. This is one trait that many miss. If you think you can balance between your business and family than you are wrong. At the start of the business , it comes first. You work long nights on your business. On your family/friend parties you are talking mostly about business. There is no such thing as balance between them.

Many people think that to become an entrepreneur is easy and did not self check whether they have the proper traits to become one. You may be just suited to become an employee and reach a better career. Make sure you have considered your potential to become a high careered employee before you start your business and become an entrepreneur.

So before you even think of becoming an entrepreneur make sure you have the traits required. Or else you'll just become a statistic that only 5% small businesses pass the 5 year critical point.
Remember starting a business is one thing but operating it to reach continual growth is another.

But if you have those above mentioned traits than 'the boss keep yelling at you' or 'unsupportable colleagues' is a supporting sign from God for your to start your business. :-)

An X-Wing chasing an Imperial Shuttle above Pasopati Bridge Bandung

A couple of days ago it was spotted as an intergalactic dog fight where an x-wing chased an imperial shuttle above Pasopati Bridge in Bandung, Indonesia. It is unknown whether Lord Vader was inside the craft and preparing for the initial conquering of planet earth as a form of the Empire Strikes Back. Or these crafts could be from a terrestrial time tunnel that brought them forward or backward in time (.. along-long time ago ... far..far away...). A star destroyer full of stormtroopers seems to be cruising at the above atmospheric view and waiting for instructions to ‘attack at will’.

The national air force seems to fail to detect this event and it seems that we don’t have many options against these alien technologies then surrender. The goverment must find help and organize a multinational force against these attacts. Rare happenings like these make local and foreign tourist keep coming to Visit Bandung.

He..he.. a good thing that this is only a hoax and that’s not an actual event. But how will a an intergalactic battle (star wars) really be in the future ? Here are the facts about laser technology from a documentary.

Current laser technology has not found the energy source to create a laser beam powerful enough to shoot from earth to other planets above the atmosphere. This is the dangling questions that everyone is looking to know about. Who is our secret admirers looking at our profile ? Is he or she just a someone pretending to be your friend just to find out and get access to your profile pictures.

To actually know who is actually seeing your Facebook Profile you must first know the policy in facebook. First of all this feature is called ‘Profile Tracking’. The second question does facebook have or is there a Profile Tracking application in facebook that is available, bug free (no error) and ready for use ?

There is an application from the site Unfaced.com. First you register to the site and then get a code which you insert in your profile section. Then you can track users interaction and even how many times they accessed your profile.

Recently there was news in TV that there was a release by a site of certain classified documents own by the US Military about operations in certain regions of the world which would give a shocking view of the ‘real situation’ that happened.

This ‘internet whistle blower’ was said to have impacts to names that are mentioned in the report says the US Government’s Press Spokesman official. It is not the first occurrence but like the recent incident before could pose threat to national security although not officially verified yet.

A spokesman for the ‘Reporters without borders’ says that this proves that the internet is very powerful and unstoppable. There are governments that are taking great efforts in ‘selecting the right materials’ for the internet users to access, or even total censorship. Maybe you’ve heard about ‘The Great FireWall’.

If it is 5/10 above (6,7,etc) Google pagerank with an Alexa below 1 million , You’ll know that this site is ‘authoritive in its niche’. This means it has certain share of a certain ‘search term’ in the internet. In other words ‘It can tell you what to do’ in that topic.

3. See if you can make a reciprocal link to that site. That is creating your link to that site by constructive commenting that site. Especially if it is a do follow site. A do follow site is a site that gives a link in a comment to be followed by robot, spiders. But spam commenting to get links or link trading is not recommended by Google.

For Wikileaks it’s a 7/10 Google Pagerank shows that it is clearly an authoritive site or people refer this site. The Alexa Rank around 10.000 is an indication of high traffic and the below 5000 in the US shows that US citizens access is alot. The Alexa version of sites linking in shows that there is 3,500 sites linking in. This is massive.

And if you see these days, there was an increase of traffic by 21%. This is because its making breaking news. People are using the search term 'wikileaks' the most (43%) to reach this site.Remember mainstream media coverage will dramatically increase popularity of a site.

3. Answer promptly and full of confidence but don't get over. Keep in mind upon facts according to your CV. You are important and he/she is too. Think in balance, don't be inferior.

4. Remember quantitative measurable figures and hard facts about your achievements in your last company. Like sales figures or other KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

5. You’re selected because of your competence in the field if you're an experience worker, and your basic human resource if you are a fresh grad. So tell what you did in a meaningful and logical manner. Your work skill is your hard skill, he/she will also ask about your soft skills such as team building, presenting, organizing, initiative and creativity.

7. Know a little lot about the company by browsing the company's website. And prepare for quality questions should you be given a chance to ask.

Earthquake 6.0 at Sukabumi West Java

Just moments ago an Earthquake at a magnitude of 6.0 in the richter scale at 19.01 p.m Western Indonesian Time and lasted for 10 seconds. There wasn't any reports yet of victims.

But panic was reported in Ahmad Yani road in Sukabumi. Sukabumi is a small town in West Java province where Bandung is the capital of it. This quake was felt at neigboring towns all the way to Bandung, Jakarta and Bogor.

As I talked earlier about getting good rank in the web, the theory behind it is the Google PageRank® system (What is Google PageRank system ? ) is how much links do we have in top ranking sites known as the PR. This will then increase our PR from 0 to 1 to 10.

Remember there are some prominent indicators our rank and traffic in the web. One is the Alexa rank system. The Alexa system measures the amount of traffic the lower your rank the better. The target is to get to the 1.000.000 level or below. This is not an easy task because you must attract a bunch of visitors to come constantly. There for you must have a specific theme for your site that people will easily remember.

You see on the side corner my pagerank has recently increased to 2, while I did not do much blogging lately cause of school and work (shown by my Alexa Rank getting low as 12000 from 4000 a couple months ago). It got high because the sites that has this site’s link (www.visit-bandung.com ) got higher and I profited from this situation. This is why a link to 4 sites with PR7 for example is far better than a link to say 20 sites with PR 0 (zero).

Why would we go to this trouble of getting ranks for our web? If your objectives just for the pleasure of writing and sharing your experience its fine with me. But for me and some others in the field, Rank means monetizing or potential passive income. But to give you a hint, to get good decent income from your web you must at least have like 10 thousand visitors a day.

The future has not been written, but you have the power to alter it to be better one. This depends on your daily actions that will further become your habit and will sediment in your subconscious mind. They must be positive habits like reading great books or thinking big.

But the most important thing before going to all this is that you have to take the action. That is to do first. This will be far better then not doing at all.

After you have done that 'action' to make you differ from others or you want to do it better, you have to do it more. Yes repetition makes perfect . In depth makes you a master of that action because you want to get more of that action.

You are the definite international marketer and your boss assigns you to go to Indonesia to make a deal or open an outlet or a rep office here. Where ? Indonesia ? How far is that from Bali ? Actually Bali is part of Indonesia. The 2004 Tsunami hit Indonesia the worst. Yes Indonesia with all its characteristics as a developing country. Yup still developing.

Why sell stuffs in Indonesia ? Only a small percentage use credit, most use cash. So it is a very potential place to sell your stuffs. With a 220 million population as your target market, it’s a comfortable market as soon as you get your business running here. But there’s a catch, bureaucracy is still needs to be reformed for easy investment process.

So you wanna make a success in selling your products in Indonesia. Then you must understand the characteristics. The source of this material is from a marketing magazine in Indonesia. There’s this guy that’s making quite a hell of a lot money for selling this knowledge through his seminars.

A proof is AC Nielsen survey shows 76% buyer likes the price discount and 18% liked the gift directly.

Character # 2: NEVER PLANNED.

Indonesian consumers are not accustomed to plan for something to do. Although already planned, but they will take decision at the last moment. These habit are also similar for the first-class consumers.

The well renown Racing System Overnight study or in completing certain tasks is common in Indonesia. In example paying seminar bills moments after people sign up.

One form of consumer behavior that has no plan is IMPULSIVE BUYING (buying without a plan / spontaneous buying when interested in a product).

Based on the Nielsen survey, 85% of shoppers turned out to modern retail tend to shop something that is not planned. The best strategy for this character is to make display interesting as possible and strategically place or can be assisted with the SPG.
No wonder when I go the supermarket there’s all these displays.

Character # 3: LIKE TO GATHER

Gathering habits are deeply embedded in our consumer culture, until the term "mangan ora mangan kumpul" in the Java community which means “eat or no what’s important is that we gather”.

The most effective strategy for these characters is the Word of mouth communication strategy, this is proven in the Real estate business. There’s more house sold or lubricating oil sold using this strategy.
Amanda achieved success in brownies and Kartika Sari from Bandung also rely on this strategy. Key words from this word of mouth strategy is located on a community leader’s opinion from existing communities.
CHARACTER # 4: Technology Illiterate.

“Does this gadget have Facebook in it ? I don’t like the internet, I want Facebook only”. This shows the lack of knowledge in new technologies.
The low penetration of high technology in Indonesia showed that the majority our consumers is still relatively "clueless about computers and IT" so that the adoption of a technology relatively much slower.

This is evident in the survey about the reasons for consumers don’t not use mobile banking, 32.66% said they did not know to operate and 16.75 considered unsafe.
So also with the penetration of Internet usage, new figures touched 9.0% compared to Malaysia which has 47.8% penetration.

The low level of penetration of this high-tech products is closely related to with education level of our society. But do not be pessimistic first. Because, young consumers are now more adaptable to new technologies because of the globalization.

CHARACTER # 5: LOOKS ORIENTED.

* Second, choose the right things from reading or watching a light and entertaining.
* Third, easy to change perceptions.

The impact of these characteristics on the consumption behavior of Indonesian people

Consumers' reluctance to read also causes less consider the information contained in a product.

There are some basic steps that we can call as good writing strategies for your blog, other than writing good content with understandable English. For a newbie blogger applying these strategies would give direct effect for their blog.

Use Great Headlines
The headline is the like the cover of your article. Writing great headlines will surely pull readers it must touch the emotional side of the readers you can read how to write great headlines this in this article.

Write in Chunks
To easily digest the article we must write in chunks meaning that we write 3 sentences maximum for each paragraph. Give a break for your visitors. The pixels in their laptop or PC screen is already giving their eyes a burden. Why give more with long paragraphs.

Use lists and bullets
What you are reading now is a an example of the lists I’m talking about. List makes the article easy to read and looks interesting.

Don’t use underlines
The common rule in the net is that underlines are only for links, remember that so change with bold as a change. You know what happens when you see a line in a web article but you can’t click it right ? Yes, your visitors will be frustrated.

Writing like Saying
When you say something your prime target is for people to understand. You usually use descriptions. When writing it is very different, you can make a short and clear sentence but effective; noting that your readers have the good understanding about the words.

Reading level : Eighth Grade
Remember that show “Are you smarter than a 9th grade student ?” The answer is you are, but many readers have limited vocabulary. So writing it easy will give them a break.

Putting a Shout box is a form of communication and could function as a guestbook in your site. Visitors can interact with each other and you can get feedback from the messages written.

To put a shout box in your blog you register to the site that provide the shout box, and then you get the script then you paste it in your blog as referred in this article about putting scripts in your blogger.
The basic steps are:

Go to source site for example www.shoutmix.com
Register an account
Get the code from the site
Paste it in the HTML/Java Widget box in Blogger

First go to the site that provides the shoutbox. In this case we use www.shoutmix.com and then proceed with registration. Input your ID, password and email as shown below.

The next step is setting preferences for your shout box. This is important because you must set the width of your shoutbox and set it according to your sidebar width. The default value would do. After you set your preferences, copy it your clipboard or notepad.

One of the important aspects of a user when visiting a site is an ease of navigating the site. The more easy the navigation, the more the time for that visitor likely to stay and browse through that site or blog

With very little knowledge of HTML you can make yourselves a menu at the top area or the side bar area of your blog. The method refers to the article about putting scripts to your blogger site.
First of all this method refers to the putting scripts on your blogger article. You can read that article first.

The steps are:

After completing the list then go select your preferences. The menu type, colour and size settings and so on.

Let’s do the first and second step at the same time : First go to the site until you see as shown below.

If your born a lucky kid from genetically smart parents, wealthy and from a good environment. It would not be a surprise if you become a relatively successful person now. But the question is what if you're background is from a less education, merely poor, and from a left behind community but still managed to be a successful person?

Now that's called greatness or Impressiveness. We have many examples of individuals with disabilities or not so lucky background whom reached ultimate success. Bill Gates didn't complete his university, President Roosevelt is handicapped. Colonel Sanders started KFC when he was an elder. And there are so many others.

So why should we complain about our disabilities or current conditions with short of while these people proved that their handicap is not a restrain for their success. Rather than a restrain it ultimately became their greatness. This brings us to the science of `Even though'.

Even though he's from a poor family, he succeeded. Even though her education is low she managed to build her company. Even though he's just a low employee coming from a country, he became a successful online businessman. Even though…

So it's all up to you now to choose whether to make your deficiency, lack or shortness a hold back for your success or to make it your greatness. God is fair a person with a disability usually has an ability or `gift' in other fields.

Remember the Tree Man , Dede ?
This person made the news because of his skin condition that looks like a tree. I wrote an article about him in this blog earlier. Unfortunately the latest news says that the ‘root’ grew again after his operation at August 2009.

Latest news says that there are complications because of his medication therefore he must stop some treatment. Prof Anthony Gaspari , the dermatologist from Maryland USA, who first treated Dede, is planning to come to Indonesia again.

Dede’s decease is actually called the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Small warts that is growing in his skin became bigger and bigger that finally covered the whole skin.

I've just read this article in Problogger by Skellie, that the truth about getting high traffic has to do with Evangilism.

The word origins from religious evangelicals. They are a group of people that has deep interest and has the willingness to 'spread the word' , in the case of religous means the word of God. In simple words we call it a middle level of fanatism.

Blogs that has these createrias has is the readers that are categorized as evangelist followers or bookmarkers. Which means after they have read those blogs, they are stunned and they can't wait to tell other people about it (passionate of reading the blog and passionate of telling other people about the blog). These readers will automatically buzz it in social media, they will subscribe to the blog's feed and totally bookmark the blog to follow the development.

These people will surely bookmark that type of blog because the basics to create such situation and followers is to first create great content, a complete structure of interesting article archieves. A sign of a great archieve is having great articles that 'lasts' and people are willing to go through it because they know that it is a quality blog.

The traffic that comes to these blogs are from direct typing of link in the link bar or already bookmarked or subscibed in feed as mentioned in writing headlines that sells article in this blog. And for the record the blog doesn't have to be a well developed and mature blog, it could also be a relatively new blog but interesting.

What are in the followers mind when they are following such a blog ? If I were a follower I would think of :

If we want to make our website or blog become a success we must consider marketing efforts for it. We must put ourselves as marketers and what would a marketer do to reach his goals. Marketing in theory takes a couple of hours of lecture. In theory, there is this thing called the Marketing Mix.

It consists of 4Ps: Product, Price, Place and Promotion. A person named Niel Borden first used this. To make it simple for you the first P is Product means you have to be clear what product or service you have in store for the customers other important stuffs are the product features (does it have this, does it have that) , the product variety and also the packaging.

The second P: Price, is how is your pricing policy, do you give discounts for buying more than one products, how about the payments terms? Are we allowed to credit?

The third P Place: is talking about the distribution system, how are we going to distribute it? Do we have channels, which area do we cover? Do we cover only an area of a city, a state or the whole nation?

Then the last P is Promotion: Consisting of what are our promotion programs do we do direct marketing, or conduct sales promotion? Is publicity (mainstream news) one of our strategy? What type of advertisement do we do? And how many sales forces do we have.

But if you were a webmaster and you have a site/blog that is yours or you made a site for your client, ‘marketing’ for you would mean anything you do to attract potential customers and encourage potential sales that will generate income.

So your objective is to make a website that will achieve those certain goals which are translated as better ROI (Return on Investments) shown by

So put yourself as visitor and go through your site. And think what would you want in ‘this’ site that you are visiting. What would convince you to buy a product from ‘this’ site.

Niche in web terms means a specific topic we are discussing in our website/blog. Niche Market in marketing can be translated as STP which stands for Segmenting Targeting and Positioning. A marketer always thinks who will be his target market.

An example of the STP implementation is as follow : I’m aiming towards the women’s market Segment, Targeting specifically to creative women (employed and not) with my positioning statement as : ‘the blog that inspires women to be creative online’.

The good thing about having specific target market is you will have a clear goal in your blog marketing efforts and will not go general discussing many topics not in depht. And at the end your readers will realize that you actually do not like the topic your discussing.

Liking what you write will also determine your 'lastingness' in your blog. If you like a topic I'll bet it will be easy for you to write articles regarding that topic for months and months ahead.

When you are making a website, you must be involved in creating HTML pages, making good design with designing tools. This requires you to know HTML and how to put scripts.

A script is a collection of lines that functions as program code that instructs our page to do certain things or access a certain script form a certain site that will show as if it was from our site.

If you’re a blogger that do not know anything about programming which I define as writing code and make scripts such as for HTML,PHP or Java, you are eased by blogging facilities. such as what blogger has. All you have to do is go through the menus like accesing your free email.

And the other good news is that nowadays many sites that provide applications are getting more friendlier by providing scripts for us to ‘paste’ to our blog.

When you blog, setting up scripts like this is the next level after you know how to write an article and upload pictures. Putting up a script from a site to your blog is easy but you must be carefull not to make mistakes because it will result of an error or the ‘thing’ you are expecting to show did not show.

One more important thing is also be careful of not putting up ‘malicious’ scripts meaning scripts that contain directives to a malicious site or contains viruses. Nowadays web browsers and search engine (google) has the capability to prevent us visiting these sites from the warnings.

Examples of scripts that we usually embed to a blog or site are as follow:

A script for putting a Slide Show (pics or presentation)
A script for exchanging banners
A script for putting up a chatbox
And many more

First go to a site that will provide you with a script like in the this section of the site.This site offers you to put a banner in your blog as an exchange that he put your banner in his site.

This is an application of placing scripts on your blogspot articles. In this example we will put a You Tube video on your blog. First go to YouTube and get the script.

The script is in the 'embeded' section.Then copy it to your clipboard or note pad. The next step is open your blogger dashboard and start the standard steps of making an article as shown below.

Understanding Google's PageRank System

As you know nowadays, web pages and blogs are hoping that their pages could reach the first pages of Search Engines for typing such keywords.Their doing what we call Search Engine Optimizing. Some people think that SEO is an activity of challanging the Search Engine, while they are wrong.

The truth is that Search Engines are getting smarter and smarter each day to seperate good and original sites from the sites that are trying to 'outsmart' the Search Engine by doing unethicle ways.

And every webmaster is dreaming that their page could reach top in Google. The indicator of such sites are that people link to it giving it authority in its niche. It will then make that site have Google PageRank (r) .The rank is from 1 to 10 and the higher the better.

The Google PageRank System was found by the founders of Google :Lawrence Page and Sergey Brin. Sergey is very interested in extraction of large data from unstructured sources while Larry is interested is Search Engines and scalability of human access interfaces. The PageRank system was actually a doctorate paper made by these two guys.

It was made because at that time there was low satisfaction of Search Engine Results, large Search Portals made their searching algorithm so exclusive that we would not know whether the search is 'organic' or a 'placed on the top of results cause of the right price'. The google guys made a major rectification of this. And believe it or not it changed the web forever.

PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)/C(T1) + ... + PR(Tn)/C(Tn))

where :

PR(A) is the PageRank of page A,
PR(Ti) is the PageRank of pages Ti which link to page A,
C(Ti) is the number of outbound links on page Ti and
d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1.

To make it simple , the PageRank systems is the indicator of the importance of a site/blog.
A PageRank(PR) value is detirmened by the amount of outbound links of site linking to it. For example SiteA has has high PageRank if SiteB (which links to SiteA) has also outbound links to other sites which also has high PR.

In practice if you have a backlink or outbound link to sites with a high PR, you would likely to get a PR rather than you link with sites without PR. So remember to link not just to sites but it would be better with sites that have PR.

So the point is for reaching PageRank, you must get involved (have your link) or exist on PR pages on the web.To know whether a site has PR you can check whether they it has a PR gadget, or put an addon on your browser so you can automatically see whether a sites rank.

I used the 'WebRank Toolbar' addon for Mozilla Firefox. There are others you can Google it. We can say that this toolbar is a standard tool for a blogger/webmaster that is doing SEO. We just browse a site and we can see its PageRank and also other ranking indicators such as Alexa.

An Alexa figure shows the rank of the site worlwide and in contries which is based on the amount of traffic the site recieves. First write your articles in a consistent manner. Then start thinking of design and traffic. After a while (say 3 months) then start making money out of it. The choices are Paid Per Click, Paid Per Lead, or Paid to Review programs. And you can join ‘affiliate programs’ such as Amazon Books that you get commissions per Sale.

Barbie Dolls wearing Traditional Wear ?

Barbie wearing traditional clothes? Since when? That's what you would of thought.

For a women adult or a young adult, of course you remembered the time when you got your first Barbie doll and you were so happy to receive them from your parents.

Barbie(r) is a registered tradmark doll from a large US toy company Mattel Corporation and it was one of the most successful toy product ever designed for young girls. The real Barbie doll wears casual wear with blond hair and comes with accessories. Sometimes, even grown ups still play with them.

But it turns out that Indonesian handicrafters have made their own doll that looks like Barbie’s, but wearing Indonesian traditional clothes. These dolls are for small girls to play with but one aspect is so they know and appreciate their traditional roots. Like the one aboe wearing the ‘kebaya’ dress with ‘batik’ design with a headscarf.

This doll is one out of many products that were shown in Pekan Kerajinan Jawa Barat (PKJB) 2009 that was held in Graha Manggala Siliwangi Jalan Aceh , Bandung from the 23 to the 27th December 2009.

Many other unique arts were shown from many provinces of Indonesia : batiks, sculptors, paintings, you name it. Visitors form all over West Java and also some foreign visitors also came to this yearly event. (Insert : Pic 2. the hallway)

Like this one below, from Jogjakarta, this carved woodenery is made of a specific light wood. It’s a craft of traditional Java men and women wearing their traditional kingdom (keratuan-keraton) clothes.

A friend of mine was also showcasing his ceramics here, he was covered here before in and article about ceramic boys in Bandung. They were with the Bandung City's Dekranas (Dewan Kerajinan Nasional - National Council for Handicrafters Association).

How to setup Comments below Posts and Monitor them

Sometimes when you visit a blog you see it very interesting and you get involved emotionally. And your next action is that you really want to comment that blog.

When you are use to blogwalking ( a term used for visiting peoples blog) you see a good blog and as a token of appreciation you comment that blog. The owner of that blog, should he be new blogger, would be a very happy person because of that was the first comment for his blog.

As an equal opportunity blogger, when I see these new or ‘comment missing’ blogs, I put my comments in. Making people happy is a good deed (pahala) you know, same as giving them a smile. What I'm most fond of is that top ranking bloggers (having PR 1-10 sites) still humble enough to comment in other low visited blogs. I totally salute this attitude.

My tips in commenting blogs are :

giving a short comment is Ok but, don't let them get the idea that you are just link dropping.
find the 'meat' - a terminology used by a guru of mine - in that post, and comment accordingly to your knowledge about it. If you want drop a link put a link of your article(not just your site address) that is relevant to the discussion.
They say at least follow 5 'do follow' blogs, actively comment them for SEO reasons.Do follow blogs are blogs that when you comment them you get a backlink from it. Backlinks are links from other sites that increases your authority and pagerank.

The How to Blogger Tip

Anyways lets go to the tip.Did you know that Blogger has default setting for comments that is just a link to a comment page. Different from Wordpress or Multiply, which in default has a comment form below its post as shown below. Phsicologically if you are given an ease to comment it would be like something that is offered to you in an easy served way.

But we can change that. The things that we are going to do here :

Set the settings to put a comment form below posts
Put a 'Recent Comments' widget in your blog's side bar.

First login to your blogger dashboard and go to the 'settings' tab. Pick 'anyone' for the 'who can coment setting'. Then for the 'comment form placement' select 'embeded below post'. That's the thing.

Then save these settings untill you have successfully saved it.
Then you see in your blog that when you opened an article you see the comment form below each posts.

The next thing is to put up a recent comment widget. Login blogger, go to the dashboard and click the layout tab. At the side bar section click 'Add Gadget' link.

Then a form like this will come out. Its an Add Gadget form. Go to the 'search for gadgets' and type 'recent comments'

Then the select that gadget by pressing the '+' button as seen below.

Then configure the settings before saving it as pictured below.

You can change the title. Then select the pixel width according to the side bar width, a safe figure is 180 pixels. The summary length is a summary sentence of the comment, not the whole comment. And the number of comments is the last number of comments that commented. After saving the settings then you can see the recent comments bar , tuck neat in the side bar.

How to Change your Default Blogger Header

This article is one of the first articles in the series of articles regarding Blogger Tips and Tricks. There are so many tips and tricks I want to share, but let start with the basics.

If you’re new to blogging in Blogger, your given a choice of ready made templates when you setup your new blog. These templates are cool but, they have their own respective creators.

But there comes a time when you get bored of that given header and you want to make or design your own header. Here are the steps.

The standard header section is 660 width in pixel (This can differ to different templates). So you must make a header with that width. For this tip I make it with Corel Draw. You can use other design tools too, you can even make it in MS Word. The point is after you make the header you have to convert it into a jpg format that is uploadable.

Making the Header Banner

To make your header look good an neat you can start drawing you header at any with you want, later your can reduce the pixel size to the required size of the header , in this case 660 pixel width.

When designing your Header we have to consider the following (these are suggestions, you can follow them or not) :

The title of the blog is written clear
Put a tagline below your Title to give an idea of what’s in the blog
Put a picture that is associated with the blog title
Put the your web address.http or bla-bla for your visitors to remember your site.

After you have completed the design save it in jpg you will realize that the pixel size is above 1000 pixels (usually 1200 something), resample the size of the pixel using drawing tools. In this tip I used Corel Photopaint.

Then open your jpg header with Corel Photopaint or other tools and convert it to a width of 660 pixel in width. We only have to adjust width because the height will follow automatically.At Corel photopaint, from the 'menu bar' go to Image > Resample

Then change it to 660 pixel in width. Then again save it. Remember to make sure the format is in jpg.

The Blogger Settings

After you've completed your header design. You can then login to to your blogger and go the layout section of your blogger dashboard.

Then click the Edit button in the Header Section to change your header settings. It will come out as seen below.

Pick Image from Computer and press 'browse' and search for your header file in your file directory that is in jpg and already shrunk to 660 pixels.
And for the Placement , pick 'instead of title and description'.
You can use shrink to fit , but I prefer shrinking it by program like mentioned above. After you uploaded your header it will show like below.

After that save this setting and then view your blogger blog and then 'wallaa....' you get your new and improved header.

A Sausage House in Bandung

I haven’t much covered places of eating in Bandung, cause there’s too many of them. They say shop the FO's and enjoy the cuisines.I sometimes get confused where to start. But since I went here twice already, it tickles me to write about it in the culinary section.

Sorry for my shallow vocabulary of food items, since I’m not a chef. But I’ll try to explain some favorite Indonesian dishes too.

The concept is a place for your kids to play and eat sausages as much as you want it. That’s why they call it ‘Rumah Sosis – Sausage House’. Its located in Setiabudi 295 , Setiabudi is another center for factory outlets. It’ll get busy on holidays so I recommend you to go at around 9.30 in the morning. The sausages are really juicy, no preservatives and you can enjoy it while relaxing in a sundanese joglo architectural outdoor restaurant.

For your kids they have swimming pools, ATV (all terrain vehicle) track, pony back riding a large indoor bike arena with a playground facility complete with ball pool, slides and ladders. And a flying fox ride, the thing that you can ‘hang around’ to get excitement.

As an adult I was interested in the food. In their menu we ordered nasi timbel komplit, a bizarre food that the rice is covered with banana leaves, with fried village chicken (ayam kampong), tempe and tofu, and some vegetables to come with it, plus the sambal (hot mixed chilly).

The ox tail soup known as ‘sop buntut’ is a favorite among Indonesians. They also have it here. It combines oxtail with soup recopies’ that can fulfill your hunger for delicate soup cuisine. Indonesian dishes usually are made of coconut oil and ingredients such as lada hitam (black pepper), kunyit (turmeric), sereh (lemongrass), bawang merah (shallot), kayu manis (cinnamon), kemiri (candlenut), ketumbar (coriander).

While I go with the ultimate sausage menu called ‘special grilled sausage’. It’s a total sausage meal with one large sausage and 4 small ones. You can pick the sausage varieties from Chicken Chipolata, Beef Bockwurst, Mini Bockwurst, Beef Garlic, Cheesy Super, Mini Cheesy, Black Pepper, atau Big Bockwurst. The sausage is juicy and covered with seaweed and tastes really good.

It comes with fried potatoes, and served with small pinaples garnished with mayonnaise with raisins. You dip the sausage (in Indonesian dip is : ‘cocol’ the c read like in ‘chalk’ the o read ‘aw’ in awsome) in to the special tomato mixed chilly sauce.

We also ordered a teaser meal : the mozzarella cheese fritter. It’s a fried mozzarella (the cheese that’s usually in pizzas) covered with this wheat like covering, but taste good. You see the picture, maybe you know what it is.

And then the terrayaki chicken and rice. A Japanese menu that already become a regular dish in restaurants like these. The drinks were also in variety, we went for are bottled tea, freshly squeezed oranges, avogado juice.

When you go home don’t forget to bring home some freezed sausages home from the mini market there.

The Formula for Writing Headlines that Pull Readers

Do you know the truth about headlines ? The statistics are that 8 out of 10 people will read the headline. But the interesting part is that only 2 out of 10 will read the rest. The challenge is how to make your article be read that 2 persons.

This means that the headlines determines whether the surfer want to read the rests. And by writing great headlines, you will pull the reader. And should he find it usefull he will book mark your blog or even subscribe your live RSS feeds. And an RSS livebookmark feeds only shows the headline from that specific blog.

And guess what if the headline is not interesting. You would not ‘right click’ it to a new browser tab for you reading consumption.

We all know the importance of a powerful headline to get attention of internet audience. But writing a great headline isn't as easy as it sounds. It’s as subject of its own.

An Approach

There is one approach to force your potential customers to learn more. This approach is relating it with basic human motivators. According to psychologist Abraham Maslow, human behavior is always the result of one or more of five basic needs. He listed these needs in a sequence that he refers to as "the hierarchy of human needs."

What’s close to basic needs would surely attract readers, According to Maslow they are (from the lowest to the highest) :

Physiological - Basic human needs include hunger, thirst, shelter, clothing and sex.
Safety (Security) - Human need for physical, emotional and financial security.
Social (Affiliation) - Human need for love, affection, companionship and acceptance in a group.
Esteem (Self Esteem) - Human need for achievement, recognition, attention and respect.
Self-actualization - Human need to reach their full potential like what you want to be known as in history , what you really want to do in life.

When you take consideration of those above mentioned needs, and incorporate them in the headline. It will struck their emotions, and when their needs are in the process of ‘getting satisfied’ when they read your article, then that means you are holding the driving seat, so Blog It Bro !.

And remember the most important time is those couple of seconds when the reader reads the headline. Those 5 seconds of reading the headline is what matters most and will make the difference.

These are samples of headlines that will get your readers in emotions to read them.

"How to Increase Your Traffic to 500% by Using This Simple Visit Bandung SEO Strategy" , The how to are what I like the best. People’s basic need for the internet is finding information, so give it to them sister.
"Are You Sick and Tired of Living Broke?" This question type headline goes to the people’s emotion and they want to participate in the debate or justify themselves.
“Double Your Income within the Next 6 months --Guaranteed!" This is a command type headline, Loyal readers will read it because of your authority in your niche. You command it, they follow it.
“Announcing the breakthrough of E-marketing this century” This is a news type of headline, It is very effective for promoting your new product or services.But don't get too exagurating.Be realistic.
“I’ve proved Tresna’s Internet Marketing Strategies and it Works! – Rifanzi an Entrepreneur” This is a testimonial type of headline. Its like giving reference of someone’s product or service. Nowadays as a produces we cannot claim that our product is the best. People go to the internet and check bad news about that specific product/services.

One important aspect of creating the great headline is that we must deliver according to the expectations of the reader. That means hard and genuine honesty is what the readers expect.
If you say that you will give your ground breaking experience about a topic, that means you must deliver it. If you promised unique steps then give them the steps and explain what’s so unique about them.

This is gaining customer trust and at the end increasing your customer value preposition.

The Lost Paradise

The Lost Paradise Kawah Putih . Some people call it the Lost Paradise. Why is it called that ? Here’s the story.

This article was actually on of my post, when I was still using hosting services.

It was first discovered by a Dutch named Dr Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn in 1837. It’s located in Gunung Patuha. Those days nobody dared to hang around this mountain because it was renowned for its spookiness and a place where tribes do their mystical rituals until it was discovered.

When first discovered by the Dutch, it was a very beautiful site to visit. The white sands surroundings and blue to green water. It is preserved until now.

Before it was opened for public by the Forestry Department of West Java, this place was a sulfur factory own by the colonial Dutch named Zwavel Otgining Kawah Putih and then owned by the Japanese when they conquered Indonesia. The factory was then named Kawah Putih Kenzanka Yokoya Ciwedey by the Japanese.

After opened for public, this mountain volcano is a place where many local and foreign tourists come and gather. Because of the uniqueness this place is called the lost paradise. Because the site is so exotic, many newly weds took their pre wedding photographs here.
For a forty-five kilometers drive from Bandung, this place is a fresh experience.

When you get to the entrance, you will travel a 5 km trip which is a fresh forest with eucalyptus surrounding it. The air here is clean and fresh to breathe on. For Europeans or Japanese where they have winter season, here feels like the spring season.

When traveling to Kawah Putih you will see many strawberry fields when you get to the Ciwedey Area. These fields are also a recreation place for visitors.

Avoiding Half Baked Articles

As a blogger, especially if your a seriously finding rank, monoteizing, or even just doing for your idealistic purposes, It sometimes come to the time where you must consistently update your blog.

And although you don't have a burden in doing it, there is still that 'laziness' inside. And what happens is you write low quality posts.I often do this too.

When you update your blog your considerations are :

is the article according to my niche (segmented topic your blog is talking about)
would the article be usefull for my readers
is it already structured well, easy to read and comply to language standards.
is my article interesting enough.

I would like to share one important thing from my learnings from an expert blogger. It is never submit or post a half baked article.

A half baked article is an uncomplete article, not deept enough (indepth), still have gramatical errors, you have a guilty feeling in posting it , because you feel there's someting that you forgot to convey or you failed to adress your main idea for that article.

If your in the media business, I bet your editor will dissaprove this kind of article. Blogging has far differences. One article in a news paper could take 3 or 4 pages of a required length for a blog article which is only one page.

So my tips to avoid half baked articles are:

write your articles in a word processer to check spelling error or other terms that better suited.
proof read your article
post it, and read it by yourself. Don't 'log out' yet. Correct immediately upon your identifying of errors.
you don't have an editor, so you must act as one, doing 2 roles.
have a motivation that you always want to do better for your next article.

I'm also still learning about this. Sometimes a complete article for some, could mean half baked to others.

Indonesia had its independence from the dutch at 1945. At 1925 Bandung was a cold city where can you believe still foggy and breezy. A cup of warm Java(coffee) or bandek(a traditional drink), would be a nice drink at the moment.

Now the city's temperature is hot,poluted , because of climate change and massive industrial development If you read the history of this city it is a bowl that is sorrounded by mountains, so it is very sensitive to land destruction (deforestry,etc) because the supply of water will drastically decrease.

This areal photograph was taken by a KNIL Airforce (Dutch). As you can see the Satai Building (Gedung Sate) which now is the center of the West Java provincial government, is surrounded by clear land. Not much buildings.

And did you know that the roads near the building was one of the first roads to be build in the building, near gedung sate is the Dago Area (Now a business and factory Outlet center) is the residents of the jetsets (meneers) and landlords back then.

Bandung was known as Paris Van Java because of the Architecture and city development that was clean, managed well.It was also the center of Entertainment

Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics. 1

So vector graphics is a computer calculated graphic, the opposite of that is called raster graphics. The keyword for raster graphics, they are made of pixels. Like the photo you took from your digital camera.

When you change your photo into a vector graphic, you can get more artistic and you can use it for many things like your design brochure or even for your picture ID on your social network site.

But now you can change a photo to a vector, even though you know nothing about using those design tools above or when your local graphic designer friend is out of town. When you visit Bandung you must be thinking of what sort of souvenier can I bring home. Why not get this design and art ceramics by OddGreen.

Odd Green was born 3 years ago as a small business that at their home by Isdihar (Odi) and his brother Hendralian(Lian) . It all started when Odi, a product design student of ITB, Faculty of Arts and Design, created ceramics for his final project.

Because it was his final project he must make sure that ceramics that he made was using a unique method that differs from the regular techniques.

He created many products of ceramics small and large with his own design and not following the mainstream ceramics design that other ceramic artist made or follow. Lian, Odi’s brother, working as an automobile salesman asked his brother to why not try to sell them.

So they started out by participating in exhibition from small to large ones. And they started to join organizations related to their business such as :

How to Start an Income Generating Blog using a totally Free Blog Service

They say there is cost for starting a site, of course if your using a paid hosting service.But some others say that free blogs aren't good enough if you wanna get serious.

So the major questions when you start a blog or wannabe bloggers say are such as:

Should I use a free blog service or should I use a paid hosting service?
Should I buy a domain for it?
Is it true that a totally free blog or set of free blogs can bring you income?

These questions went to my mind when I started my blogging business. But I’ll make a great deal for you, I (Tresna owner this blog) will give you a shortcut where you do not have to go where I went and should you choose an option to host your service you do it right.

Believe it or not this blog Visitbandungnow.blogspot.com was originally in a paid hosting service which I will not say here for ethical reasons. I even bought a domain for it. What happen was that I hosted 2 sites with a service, a local service which I thought could withstand the bandwidth of increasing traffic. But I was wrong. At a certain point my site viewers experience “Sorry bandwidth Overlimit”. This is another way of saying “Upgrade your service with us please !”.

So the thing is that when you plan to host, don’t just get a hosting service, but prepare for the future, invest in a well known hosting service. A good service with reliable service has its cost. The interesting fact is that a free blogging service has a quite enough large bandwidth to handle an increasing traffic. The only drawback is the speed to access it, and the under a subdomain name, but you can buy a domain and forward it to your free blog.

Of course there are benefits of a hosting service, but do you really need them? Nowadays tweaking your blog to look like professional site is an easy thing to learn and how to do.

So the third question can a totally free blog service generate income? Yes, and this is proven by me and by others in the internet. You can check that there are many top ranking sites that are using free blogging service.

So how do we start an Income Generating Blog with totally free blog service ? Here are the steps :

Determine a niche topic. We’ve discussed about choosing the right keyword,etc
Make your blog with a free blog service. There are plenty of them.
Consistently blog in a scheduled way, let say : 2 articles per week for 3 months. No, don’t think of monetizing it yet.How to like to write and write easy, I’ll talk about it later.
Do the SEO , submit to directories, exchange links with other blogs/sites and other SEO activities.Writing articles to E-zines (e-magazines) are another good way to increase traffic.
Put a widget to measure your page rank and traffic increase. I suggest Alexa and Google Analytics.
When you reach a certain traffic rate, then you can apply to monetize your blog. Or start getting money out it. You can apply PPC (Paid Per Click) services (Google Adsense is an Example). Don’t think you’ll get your dough overnight. It’s the same as other jobs, work first then you get paid. Many people will get frustrated at first, but my approach, make it your hobby.
If your English is good.Its an advantage.Your blog will be approved not to long by Adsense.But if it is in your native language you can apply for local PPC. My property blog has one at the side bar.
Then start tweaking your blog. Upgrade the design layout. Change from 2 columns to three.Mix a good combination of Picture and text, Enhance your ads with the blog itself. Remember you want to generate income from it right.Ask opinions from friends. Is it too ‘selling’.
And most important, make your site/blog easy to navigate. Like your own home: How do we make people feel at home and not want to go early. Technically you can check the ‘pages/visit’ and ‘visit time’ at your Goodgle Analytics page.

A Real Tuyul or another Hoax

I don't know. Maybe because the sociaty is already stressed out, and gone to believing in the supernatural stuffs.

This clip from an amateur had made incredible news and even told in gosip shows lately on tv-s in Indonesia. It was claimed to be a real Tuyul - A ghost/jeani or whatever with creteri of : midget like humanoid, bald headed, and likes to steel neighbour's money little by little.

The legends say, some rich people in the countrysides 'keep' these creatures and when that 'holder'walks he always put two of his hands always at the back, carrying the tuyul.

In this video the tuyul seems to be 'rather tall' for a Tuyul. he..he..

Latest AIDS Figures in Indonesia

The Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in Indonesia has a figure of 298.000 infected with AIDS (ODHA-Orang dengan HIV AIDS) with a cumulative average of 8.15 per 100.000 persons. Quite a disturbing figure, says the minister of Welfare(Home Affairs) Agung Laksono, whom is also the chairman of the National AIDS Commission (NAC) at a National Condom Week at the University of Indonesia.

According to the health department, until September 2009, total reported AIDS case is as much as 18.442 infections. From that as much as 13.654 male, 4701 female, and 87 unknown.

He also said that there is no province free of HIV dan AIDS. He also mentioned the largest numbers by province which are Papua 17,9 times national figure, Bali (5,3), DKI Jakarta (3,8), Kepulauan Riau (3,4), and West Kalimantan (2,2). It was also predicted that HIV dan AIDS was found in half of the total cities and regencies.

Finding sex activities is a very risky habbit. The statistics from the ‘how did they get infected figures’, the statistics are 49.7% from heterosexual activities , 3.4% from homosexual activities and 40.7% from drugs and narcotics usage.

According to Wikipedia , AIDS can be explained :

“This condition progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors. HIV is transmitted through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the bloodstream with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid, preseminal fluid, and breast milk.

This transmission can involve anal, vaginal or oral sex, blood transfusion, contaminated hypodermic needles, exchange between mother and baby during pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or other exposure to one of the above bodily fluids.”

More efforts are expected from the people and organizations to reduce the above mentioned numbers.

Bandung has an airport called Husein Sastranegara. It has a runway of 7.361 ft or 7.361 meters. Currently it facilitates international flights from neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore . Since this route was available, there was an increase of regional tourists visiting Bandung.

Tips of choosing a good airline service and booking for a flight ticket:

Make sure you stick to your itenary. Have a plan A and plan B. If there is no flight A then I must go to city B and take the bus, etc.
Do they have a routine maintenance check? This is quite difficult info to find. If they are checked and have an airline maintenance audit check then they are serious about it.

Bandung History at Dago Park

When I was strolling around the Dago area last Saturday, and monitored the radio everybody was talking about this festive Helarfest about Bandung as a creative city.

A part of this program is the free park exhibition of the history of Bandung, when it was built. How it became Paris Van Java.

It was known that Bandung had a great infrastructure as a city back then. The drainage system of streets was built to anticipate flood. The Pasar Baru food market even became a well known and the cleanest market back in those colonial days.
